The Period

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was

the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the

epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the

season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the

spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had

everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were

all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the

other way—in short, the period was so far like the present

period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its

being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative

degree of comparison only.

Nowadays

1-Today we have higher buildings and wider highways but shorter temperaments and narrower points of view.

2-We spend more but enjoy less. We have bigger houses, but smaller families. We have more compromises, but less time. We have more knowlage, but less judgment. We have more medicine, but less health.

3-We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk much, we love a little and we hate too much.

4-We reached the moon and came back, but we find troublesome to cross our own street and meet our neighbors. We have conquered the outer space, but not our inner space…

5-We have higher income, but fewer morals… these are times with more liberty, but less joy… with much food, but less nutrition…

IT's amazing

Once an unhappy young man came to an old master and told he was very sad and asked for a solution.

The old Master instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it.

"How does it taste?" the Master asked.

"Awful," spat the apprentice.

The Master chuckled and then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and put it in the lake. The two walked in silence to the nearby lake and when the apprentice swirled his handful of salt into the lake, the old man said, "Now drink from the lake."

As the water dripped down the young man's chin, the Master asked, "How does it taste?"

"Good!" remarked the apprentice.

"Do you taste the salt?" asked the Master.

"No," said the young man.

The Master sat beside this troubled young man, took his hands, and said, "The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less. The amount of pain in life remains the same, exactly the same. But the amount we taste the 'pain' depends on the container we put it into. So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things.....

Stop being a glass. Become a lake!"
